Every year our Seamount learners take part in the annual Kaapse Afrikaanse Eisteddfod and Tygerberg International Eisteddfod where our learners consistently excel in their presentations of Visual Art and Music.

Mrs Breytenbach, our Music teacher, leads our Junior Choir consisting of Grade 1-3 learners, and our Senior Choir of Grade 4-7 learners. Learners who are interested in joining the Choir need to pass a voice audition (which takes place at the beginning of every year) before being placed.

Choir members are exposed to a wide range of music and songs celebrating different cultures, styles and genres. We are focused on teamwork, respect and unity. Choir performances and festivals form an essential part of sharing music, improving our standards and growing together as a choir.

We were so pleased to be able to reform our Marimba band this year. They have been practicing really hard and their dedication has certainly paid off. They performed at The Marimba Festival at the Baxter Theatre and made us really proud!

Mrs Swanepoel teaches Visual Art and Drama. The lessons are rotated according to the term and curriculum. This is an exciting opportunity for your child to develop and enrich their art skills. A small termly fee is needed to cover the cost of the resources required for the term, at the end of which their artwork will be displayed, entered in an Eisteddfod, or sent home.

Using tools such as drama, story books, rhymes, role playing, art, puppetry, mime, music and multimedia, these creative classes stimulate the imagination and build confidence and communication skills in our children. Lessons are conducted in a spacious classroom to allow for plenty of room to move. Life Skills themes are incorporated into each lesson for extension of the CAPS curriculum. The lessons build confidence, strengthen speech clarity, articulation, vocabulary and projection. Thus the stepping stone for creative writing is laid and a love of stories is cultivated through rhymes, theatre and performance.
